This invitation and message is being shared with you at the request of our GC partner Joel Canchola with GCON.
ASA Friends,
I would like to introduce you to Arizona Service Project, a nonprofit organization working to eradicate substandard housing within the Avondale School District. We take families with students in our public schools and make their homes Safer, Warmer and Dryer to provide a safe learning environment so they can focus on their studies. We have about a dozen inquiries and looking to nail down our service commitment for the year. It all depends on the magnitude of repairs needed and donations given. The goal is to eventually generate a “pool” of prequalified candidates to service year round. In the meantime we have a Service Week held at the end of the year.
Majority of the homes are manufactured homes so the typical services include: roof leaks, plumbing leaks, below deck insulation/underpinning, siding/skirting, subfloor/flooring and proper ingress/egress landings, staircase & railings or ramps. Most of the work is performed by Non-Skilled volunteers under supervision of skilled volunteers though there are always “surprises” that make it handy to have some tradesmen as volunteers (especially from the MEP trades). Ideal volunteers include Church Youth Groups, High School StuGo or Sports Groups, Junior College Groups and other community groups that are willing to lend a helping hand. We hope to generate an environment where everyday community members are helping everyday community members to gain overall awareness and encourage civic engagement. This is done during a Service Week of which all are transformed for the better by the experience.

SERVICE WEEK: December 30th through January 3rd
How Can You Help?
Material Donations: Attached is a supply list for materials requested. We can go to pick up or we have a location that you can deliver to. Hope to have all materials received by December 23rd.
Trade Services: Attached is a Trade Scope Request document we are looking for tradesmen to perform repairs prior to the services week. If the amount of work is substantial then we may need to pass on these homes depending on costs remaining after donations. Hope to have these scopes of work assessed and completed by December 13th.
